Xi Guo’s Biography

 

Xi Guo is a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society, a Master Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, and a Signature Member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Florida Watercolor Society. Born in Shanghai, China, she later moved to the United States to complete her graduate studies in photography at the

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She currently lives and works in St. Augustine, Florida.

 

Xi began working with watercolor approximately twelve years ago and quickly emerged as an internationally award-winning artist. Her work has been exhibited in China, France, England, Taiwan, Italy, Hong Kong, South Korea, Vietnam, and Greece. Her paintings and writings have been featured in International Artist Magazine, The Art of Watercolor Magazine, Watercolor Artist Magazine and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. Her work has also been included in The

Best of Watercolor: Splash 16, 20, 21,22 and 26, published by North Light Books.

 

Among her numerous honors, Xi received Best of Show awards from the St Augustine Art Association, a cash prize at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours’ 203rd Open Exhibition in 2015, as well as a major award at the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial in China. Her work has been accepted into the American Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition seven times since 2016, and she received the Anne Williams Glushien Memorial Award in 2021. She has also earned merchandise and cash awards at the National Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition in 2016, 2017, and 2020.

 

In 2018, Xi was awarded Third Place at the Biennial International Prize Marche d’Acqua in Fabriano, Italy. She was named Best in Show at the Florida Watercolor Society Exhibition in 2019, 2022, and 2025. In 2021, she received the Best Watercolor Award at the 15th International ARC Salon Competition. Additionally, she earned the Transparent Watercolor Society of America’s TWSA Members’ Award (Third Place) twice, in 2021 and 2022. In 2024, Xi was awarded the American Watercolor Society’s Gold Medal of Honor (Best in Show) at its 157th Annual International Exhibition. Most recently, she received the Edgar A. Whitney Award (Third Place) at the Transparent Watercolor Society of America’s Annual Exhibition, as well as the Master’s Signature Award at the National Watercolor Society’s 105th Exhibition.

 

Xi’s work is represented by Phillip Anthony Signature Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida, and Sugarman-Peterson Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
